Cambodia’s Historic 900MW LNG Power Project on Track for Operation by 2026–2027

At the start of the new year, H.E. Keo Rottanak, Minister of Mines and Energy, conducted an on-site inspection of construction progress at Cambodia’s landmark 900MW LNG power project in Botum Sakor District, Koh Kong Province, together with H.E. Dr. Ty Norin.

The project, one of the most significant new power investments in Cambodia, is scheduled to enter operation as planned by the Royal Government, with Phase 1 (450MW) targeted for end-2026 and Phase 2 (450MW) in 2027. Once operational, it will deliver additional electricity supply, strengthen national energy security, and enhance the stability of Cambodia’s national grid, supporting continued economic and social development.

This historic project also highlights strong international and local cooperation: Royal Group of Cambodia as the investor and developer, combined with advanced power-generation technology through collaboration between Mitsubishi of Japan and Dongfang Electric of China, a three-country partnership supporting Cambodia’s long-term energy resilience.
