How to Apply for a Permission Letter to Import, Use, or Extend the Use of Radioactive Substances and Sources

  • Submit a completed form and all required supporting documents to the One-Window Service Office (OWSO) of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) during regular working hours.
  • Completed applications will be processed by OWSO and forwarded to the responsible department for review. The application will be returned to the applicant if more information is required.
Step 3
  • Technical officials will conduct an on-site inspection, where applicable, to ensure safety and security compliance based on the type of request (import, use, or extension of use of radioactive materials).
  • The technical officials will prepare a mission report and submit for review and decision.
Step 4
  • The approval process will be completed within 45 working days from the day a completed application is received.
    • Approved permission letters are valid for 2 years.
    • To extend the validity, applicant must reapply at least 60 days before expiration date.
  • Applicant may collect the permission letter at the OWSO.
Step 5Applicants must pay public service fees as set out in Inter-Ministerial Prakas. Public entities do not pay fees but must comply with all procedures and requirements.
